Forget Black and Orange, Go Green This Halloween
When it comes to Halloween, my first thought usually has something to do with candy, but a new website is making me change my ways.
Greenzer.com, an online guide that features eco-friendly products from online retailers, is highlighting some of its' favorite green products for parents this Fall, including LED lanterns to light the way for young (and old) trick-or-treaters, reusable canvas bags and organic pillowcases to collect all those goodies and organic treats to hand out on Halloween night.
I try to be environmentally-conscious as I can when I shop, but it can be a bit overwhelming and confusing. Are all sustainable products made the same? Just because something says it's organic, does that mean it is good? The great thing about Greenzer is that everything sold must meet a minimum "green requirement," with select products listing a "Greenzer Score" number. The score is based on a product's overall impact on the environment (i.e. Does it run on rechargeable batteries?), its green attributes (Is it made from recycled materials? Does it use organically grown materials?), green labels/certifications and the manufacturer's overall green practices.
