Hot Holiday Toys 2009: Matchbox Deluxe Rocky the Robot Truck

Can your preschooler really strike up a friendship with a toy? Possibly, especially if we are talking about the Matchbox Deluxe Rocky the Robot Truck (compare prices). This interactive "dump truck with personality" can say over 100 phrases, including jokes. He dances, he sings, he even (thankfully) goes to sleep (and snores).

Place stuff in his truck bed and he'll comment and then haul and dump on command. When he's ready to take a spin (out on the dance floor) he'll move and groove to the music of your choice, including rap, country and rock n' roll.

This toy is all about fun. It's well-built and can take a lot of pint-sized punishment, whether your child is filling up the truck bed, or hauling it outside to play in the dirt. The interactive features are great -- the truck is a little on the loud side, but with so many phrases and songs available, I didn't find it tiring or annoying. He comes with four "C" batteries, but you might want to have more on hand.
