I admit it. I'm a bit potty obsessed at the moment. As I've mentioned many, many times, we are training our little guy and it's really all I can think about. Because if he's not going on the potty, I'm thinking about him going on the potty -- because I certainly don't want him going on the floor!
One way we've been getting him to be aware of the potty as a constant (and forever) presence in his life is to read him potty training books. Aside from on our bookshelf, we keep some in the bathroom so when he's sitting there, he has something to look at, confirming that he's doing everything right.
One of my favorites (and his) is Pete's Potty (compare prices), a lift-the-flap book from Begin Smart. It tells the story of Pete, a young boy who has apparently lost his potty. He spends a few pages looking for it in silly places and then finally discovers it in the bathroom (whew!). Then then takes the reader through the normal, potty process, complete with washing hands.
The text is simple and easy-to-understand and the pictures are visually pleasing. A great choice in a crowded market.
