Hess Toy Truck

A regular look at hot toys being offered this holiday season. Check out our Gift Guide for more.

One of Mr. S.'s favorite things to play with are cars and trucks. He'll make them race, he'll line them up, he'll even make them talk to each other. Cars and trucks help preschoolers work on their fine motor skills, but they can also inspire plenty of creative and imaginative play.

When I was a kid, I had a whole collection of Hess Toy Trucks and I'm happy to say that Mr. S. has a few of his own. This year, the Hess Toy Truck is easier than ever to buy, as it can be purchased online for the first time ever. No more driving from gas station to gas station to find the current model!

The truck itself is very cool -- it's actually a helicopter and rescue truck with working lights. The helicopter has motorized main and tail rotors as well as sounds for the ignition, takeoff and fly by. The rescue truck has a friction motor too. Since he got his yesterday, Mr. S. hasn't stopped playing with them (I might have pushed them around a bit myself). And for parents who are feeling nostalgic, you can visit the site to create their own digital display case of their collection.

Hess Toy Truck, appropriate for kids ages three and up; $26.99 plus tax and shipping online.

Did you ever play with Hess Trucks?
