The Write Stuff Tip #1 -- Expand Your Child's Writing Skills

In order to build your child's writing skills, she first must have something to say. Work on her storytelling abilities by looking at pictures that you find in a book or magazine. Ask her to tell you what she thinks is happening and then have her write it down. Don't worry if her efforts are nothing more than scribbles right now, you are just teaching her to take what she is developing in her brain, processing it and relaying it -- both orally and written.
