First day jitters....
- Not for my 5 year old. She was already used to staying with friends and relatives so for her this was just another adventure. Long before the school bus arrived. We spoke positely and often about how exciting riding the bus would be and all the new friends she would make. We shopped together for her backpack and school supplies she picked out her favorite pencils and crayons. Her first day outfit was bought during the summer and she could not wear it until school. She kept asking to wear it but we kept reminding her this is a special outfit to wear to school. On the big day I took her picture in front of the bus and was sure to hide all my sadness watching my baby go to school. I put on the happy face and waved her off. I went inside and my neighbor who was watching came over with lemonaide and let me cry it out. When my daughter came off the bus at the end of the day her dad and I met her excited to hear all about her day. She is in her first year of college, now, and loving it.

She cried
- My daughter started today and cried -- when I picked her up! She didn't want to leave! I think the best thing we did was take her for a tour beforehand and talk alot about school in the weeks before. She was also very excited about her new pink sneakers and being able to bring her pink bunny.

Making Friends Over the Summer
- I'm trying to get in touch with other parents who have their kids in my daughter's class so we can do some playdates beforehand. I figure if she knows some of the kids it will be better.
