Candy always works, but when filling a child's Easter basket it is always fun to get creative! When it is time to play Easter Bunny, what types of gifts do you give your little one? Share Your Ideas!

Gardening

I always put veggie and flower seeds and we start those seeds right away for the garden!

Timing of Easter basket & baby items

Remembering 20 yrs. ago---not so much what went into the basket, but the bunny delivered WHILE we were in church, so no tantrums about leaving the basket or messy Sunday-best clothes, and all afternoon to enjoy the goodies! Last year son and daughter-in-law got candy chocolate bunnies and 6-month-old grandson got a matching painted cloth "chocolate bunny" , blue bunny slippers, and a few empty plastic eggs, which he found fascinating and still plays with as they roll oddly, fit in his mouth, and he can now take apart. Now at 18 mo. he finds the little eggs fit inside the larger ones and will rattle. Eggs are good for "putting in and taking out" games and soon for color identification. For Mom and Dad---stock up on the marshmallow bunnies after Easter and freeze them. Next winter, use them to stir your hot chocolate.

Big Chocolate Bunny

I always put one big chocolate bunny, jelly beans, a cute pair of character socks, and a toy or DVD that my son may want. Come Easter morning, he runs to open the front door to see what kind of basket the Easter bunny has left on the porch this year!

Scavenger Hunt

For the last few years I have created a scavenger hunt with my child’s basket I create clues and put them in plastic eggs one leads to the next and a the end I hide the basket. It is always so much fun to hunt the basket with my child, he has a huge smile the whole time, and it is something that he will remember forever.

Egg surprises

I try to keep the candy down to a minimum -the grandparents usually cover that enough on their own. Their basket is filled with small toys and playdoh. Eggs are filled with a marshmallow (which is relatively healthy on the candy scale) or coins. My kids love getting the coin eggs since they rattle a lot! Plus they get the added pleasure of adding their loot into their piggy banks.

Toddler Snacks and Baby Toys

Last year my l.o. was just 1 and wasn't ready for candy so I had to get super creative. I filled her Easter basket with her favorite Gerber snacks, small stuffed animals, and hand held toys - the kinds of things you would put in a Christmas stocking.

little bit of everything

I just like to go to the store and pick out a whole bunch of things. Whatever looks good at the time. If there is a toy my child wants I think that easter is a good time to pick it up.

books

The Easter Bunny always brings (because I don't fill the baskets, he does) a big bunch of books that are age-appropriate for both of my kids. It is a good way to fill up our library.

candy all the way

I am boring. I just give candy! Maybe I should switch to something else so then I won't eat it!

Beach toys

Because our beach toys always get so gross by the end of every season I take the opportunity at Easter to buy all new things. I've been doing it for a few years now and it's our thing. My little girl who is 5 actually asked me this year if the Easter bunny could bring her a pink pail with her name on it! I do give candy too, but usually in the plastic eggs and not in the basket.

Candy and more

Well, candy for sure! How can you not. But I do a lot of small toys. Maybe crayons or magic markers. We also do one big present like a Barbie or a game for the family. I like the theme idea, might have to try that this year.
